source 3
Another source that i found to be really helpful was a book that i found on google scholar called Reality TV: The Work of Being Watched. This books main focus was all about the drama of reality tv. It was a very helpful source because it used specific examples of shows like the show big brother. Compared to the other sources it was shorter because google doesn't let you have the full version of the book so i only got the beginning snip-it, still helpful though. The information is very reliable and I enjoyed reading it because i got to relate my won views to it. This source is not at all biased, it shows views from different ways people view reality TV. Everything that I read helped me relate to the Kardashians and the drama and reality of their tv show.
Another Source
Another source that I found really helpful was an article i found on google scholar called Transmedia Storytelling, corporate synergy, and audience expression. The main arguments in this book are about the Kardashians show and reality tv in general and how popular it has gotten. I think it is a very useful source because it gave me a lot of insight about reality tv and some of the tricks they use when they produce it and how they get everything to be more dramatic. I agree with everything they are saying and it helped me shape my essay because i used some really helpful quotes in my essay from this source. It also compares with other sources that i found because they all bring up some of the same arguments so i could relate the articles to each other.

RESEARCH
My research after a while went well. At first i had a hard time finding sources but that was before i found google scholar. I feel like i have a good mix of articles, books, and class readings. There isn't much articles about the kardashians but there were a lot about reality tv in general so that was helpful because i could relate it to the kardashian show. I thought there wasn't much more that i could learn about the kardashians but i was wrong. I had fun reading my articles because it was about a topic that i enjoy reading about. I think i incorporated one of the class readings well and all the quotes i used were appropriate.
My first research source
My first source that i used for my research was extremely helpful. it was a book written about the Kardashians. Since my research topic was about the Kardashians you could see why it would be very helpful. The author gave a lot of info about their life and their brand and their TV show. She analyzed some of the main characters like Kim and Kris. She also talked about how and why their tv show was so popular. Compared to other sources this one was very detailed and lengthy with info about their family. i think this source gave me a great start to my papers and also helped me when i looked for other sources because i knew which types of sources i had to look for.

Final Project
For my final project I would like to focus on the TV show The Kardashians. I think that the show has a lot of dramatic elements to it. I really like the show and have been watching it for a long time so I think it will be a good topic for me to use. I think that the way they communicate and some of the arguments they get in are very dramatic but that is also helped out by the producer. At times where there is more tension they will play dramatic music. One of the things I could possibly focus on is the reason why we like certain family members more than others. I feel like the dramatic elements of the show have something to do with why we would like someone better than the other.

All that Heaven Allows
The movie All that Heaven Allows is a very good example of a melodramatic movie. I strongly think that the music and lighting choice in the film helps add to the very dramatic effect. During some scenes the music becomes very slow and dark and weary and prepares you for the intense conversations the characters are going to have. It is especially seen at the scene when Cary is talking to her Son about her relationship with Ron. Without the music, it would feel less intense and not as dramatic of a scene as it was. In the book, "Genre, Style, and Sensibility" they talk about how the lighting in the movie symbolizes different things like "Cary's revelation that her love for Ron is doomed"(Mercer and Shingler page 56). Because of the dimmed lighting you feel as though something bad or dramatic is going to happen. If it was a bright light that could have symbolized good but since some of the lighting throughout the movie is dimmed that gives the movie a dramatic effect.

When looking up Melodramatic I found a website with a huge list of films that were considered to be "melodramatic films". I found that some really populars movies were on here. The definition of melodramatic is "a sensational dramatic piece with exaggerated characters and exciting events intended to appeal to the emotions." Movies like Bambi and Titanic were on here and I think that they actually do give an example of the definition. Everyone always talks about the beginning of Bambi and how sad it is and I think that that does give it a melodramatic effect. Titanic's ending scene of Jack drowning is also a good example of the strong emotions that a melodramatic movie makes you feel.
